EDIT: теперь проблема может возникнуть из конфигурации php-fpm. Откройте /etc/php5/fpm/pool.d/www.conf с вашим любимым редактором и раскомментируйте следующие строки:
listen.owner = www-data listen.group = www-data listen.mode = 0660
и не забудьте перезапустить php-сервер:
service php5-fpm restart
