Правильный способ определения типа mime в php

Добавьте вам mime types config (/etc/magic.mime;/etc/mime.types) типы mime, которые вам нужны. Также вы можете взять (google it) готовый файл magic.types и использовать параметр mime_magic.magicfile в php.ini
